QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Hi, I just purchased and received a Teak Wood Bahama Shower Stool. Should i put a teak oil on it even if its brand new?

Thank you for your order!  We don't recommend teak oil as it promotes mildew growth and attracts dirt and grime, particularly in a high humidity environment.  Instead of teak oil, we recommend a quality furniture wax like Howard Feed-N-Wax, which can be found at many home improvement stores.  You can also leave the teak untreated and just clean it as necessary.  Another option is to apply a teak sealer, such as SEMCO brand, which will help maintain the brown look of the wood for longer.  This would require less frequent applications than the wax, which will wear off more quickly.  More details can be found on our Caring for Teak page.  Please let us know if you have further questions.
